For some reason, vibrators are not well represented in the men’s toy division. Toys like the Cobra Libre, the Fleshlight Vibro, and the YouCups Warrior have tried to bring vibrations to the arsenal of guys looking for new sensations to please their penises, but the jury is still divided. Some guys love the intensity of vibrators hitting their little friends, other guys simply cannot have a vibrator near theirs. I belong to a third sector of guys – the ones who are willing to try these toys at least once. That is how I got my hands on the Rockbox 2, a toy from Lovehoney that is marketed as the most powerful vibrator on sale – and the only vibrator with attachments designed to please both men and women.
Is the Rockbox 2 something for your collection? Lets go to the review!
First Impressions
Right away, the Rockbox is unique in its looks. The toy looks more like a small power tool than a sex toy. You can easily place the Rockbox next to a Craftman sander and a router and it will look the part. It has an ergonomic handle, a rubberized texture to give you better grip during use, and two easy to use controls – a power button under the handle and a rotary button close-by to control the vibration speeds.
Inside the box you will see the two attachments – a bright pink tongue-looking and a black paddle-looking. The pink attachment is designed for the ladies, looking like a tongue to attack the vulva and the clitoris. The black paddle is designed with a wavy design made to stimulate the underside of the penis, specially the glans. In addition, you will see the 50 feet electric cord that you will use to power your orgasm tool. The Rockbox is an outlet only toy (no batteries for this monster), and this ultra long cable simple will allow you to play anywhere in the room.
Review
As I show in the video, the Rockbox is powerful! This thing is strong and surprisingly quieter than expected. I still will never use it for late night sessions because it would easily startle my neighbors, but it is perfectly fine for daylight sesions when I also have the TV or music on.
I tried both attachments and the reality is that each attachment is designed with a specific function in mind. Yes, you can use either one no matter what sexual organ you have, but the fact is that the pink tongue works better for women and the black paddle works better for men. The vibrations are more an oscillation type – in the lower settings you can feel the oscillating movement, while at higher speeds, it felt more like someone was slapping my little friend.
Pros
- The Rockbox IS powerful. This toy’s main claim is that it is the most powerful vibrator – even stronger than the infamous Hitachi wands. In that, it delivers with honors. In the higher settings, you will feel your genitals melting with the vibration, creating deep pleasure in your body.
- Simple operation. You have two separate controls- the power button at the handle and the speed control. Basically foolproof…
- Lots of electric cord. The Rockbox has a 50 ft electric cord, more than enough to not having any issue plugging in this monster anywhere in the room.
- Different attachments, different sensations. Although each of the included attachments works better for the sex they were designed, you can still use either attachment to get a variety of sensations. The pink attachment can be easily used on the perineum ( use lower settings only) or the testicles, while the black attachment can be applied directly over the clitoris to make a woman roll her eyes like the Undertaker.
Cons
- It is HEAVY. The Rockbox weights almost two pounds (1 kilogram), making it a heavy toy to handle. Add the vibration factor – which is huge in this toy – and you won’t be able to hold this toy for extended periods of time without feeling your hand go numb.
- Difficult to use for solo play. Something tells me this toy was designed with pair play in mind, because the Rockbox is almost impossible to be used in solo play. The toy has an irregular shape, so it does not stay flat on any surface. Because it is so heavy, the best play alternative would be to lie on your back and placing the Rockbox between your legs. Good luck with that, because the center of mass of the toy makes the toy to wobble and move away from you.
- TPE attachments. If you are using the Rockbox attachments with other people, use some sort of barrier between the attachment and their bodies because the attachments are made of TPE, material that is micro-porous and cannot be sanitized effectively.
Verdict
I recommend the Rockbox for couples and for BDSM scenes. The toy is super powerful and definitively could be an interesting tool for those practicing sensation play or bondage / sensory deprivation sex. The powerful vibrations, the attachments and the long electric cord basically make this toy a hand-held Sybian.
On the other hand, I would not recommend this toy for solo play due to the difficulties in placing this toy in a comfortable position.
